The University of Maryland, College Park, is looking for a manager to work in the Division of Information Technology (DIT). This position is responsible for leading the Network Implementation team. This position works with DIT, University stakeholders, and contractors to manage the implementation and support of networking in new construction, building renovation, and indoor/outdoor enhancement projects as well as provide escalated upper tier network operational support.
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing planning documents for future projects and capacity forecasts.
Applicants must have a valid Driver’s license.
Minimum qualifications
Education:
Bachelor degree from an accredited institution and ten years of relevant experience or fourteen years of relevant experience.
Experience:
Bachelor degree from an accredited institution and ten years of relevant experience including:
- At least three years supervisory experience
- At least two years as a telecommunications technician in the field
- At least three years as a network engineer
OR
Fourteen years of relevant experience including:
- At least five years supervisory experience
- At least four years as a telecommunications technician in the field
- At least five years as a network engineer
Active drivers license required
Preferences
- Preference for higher education experience, wireless training/experience, and BICSI Installer II certification
Additional information: this position does not provide sponsorship for Visas.
Physical demands: Some periods of time may be spent in the computer room and communications equipment spaces. Some work may require moving and lifting of heavy communications equipment. Must be able to list 50 lbs. As a manager, will need to respond to emergencies 24/7 if they arise.
