Assistant Teaching Professor - Speech Language Pathology
POSITION: Full-time, non-tenure-track clinical teaching faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This is a full-time 12-month faculty position with eligibility for promotion. Compensation is nationally competitive.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), current possession of or eligibility for a New York State License in Speech-Language Pathology, with a minimum of five years of experience as a speech-language pathologist. Individuals applying for this position should have expertise in the assessment and treatment of several of the following areas that pertain to adult medical speech-language pathology: motor speech disorders, voice disorders, swallowing disorders, aphasia, head injury, and dementia. Experience involving assessment and treatment with augmentative and alternative communication devices across the lifespan is preferred but not required. In addition to these clinical areas of expertise, candidates should have experience with clinical supervision and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and supervision. The department is interested in candidates who have the interpersonal skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Teach and clinically supervise undergraduate and graduate students in speech-language pathology, provide direct client care, teach undergraduate or graduate courses as assigned and provide service to the department and university.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) Department at Syracuse University offers CAA-accredited clinical programs in Speech-Language Pathology (MS) and Audiology (AuD), as well as a Bachelor's degree in CSD, an AuD/PhD and PhD/SLP degrees. Several CSD faculty teach courses that are included in the Neuroscience Integrated Learning Major for undergraduate students. Also, the department maintains an excellent, highly visible on-campus speech-language hearing clinic (the Gebbie Clinic) serving a variety of clients from the Greater Syracuse community. Many of our departmental faculty have appointments and maintain strong collaborations with neighboring institutions, including the SUNY Upstate Medical University, Crouse Hospital, and the Syracuse Veterans Administration Medical Center. These collaborations and facilities include access to a broad range of patient populations and resources.
