POSITION TITLE: HRBP/Generalist
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provides guidance, assistance, and advice to member companies in matters relating to human resource management and employee relations. Develops and conducts seminars, workshops, and other training programs as needed. Works independently in highly complex matters, conducts research, special projects, and prepares reports and materials for publication when required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS
- Provides assistance and advice to management concerning human resource administration, management and employee relations. Activities include reviewing and helping to develop employee handbooks, policy manuals, employment applications, performance evaluations, and other employment forms. Reviews human resource policies and procedures of member firms. Reviews the handling of discipline, discharge or other adverse actions against employees, and recommends or suggests alternative courses of action as necessary.
- Conducts in-house and at-large workshops to train supervisors in basic supervisory techniques, correcting poor performance, performance appraisals, interviewing, and other topics as needed.
- Provides member companies with research materials, data or information upon request or as needed.
- Serves as spokesperson and/or advisor for member companies in unemployment insurance appeals hearings. Compiles relevant documents related to the case, prepares witnesses, and plans strategy for the hearing.
OTHER DUTIES
- Writes and edits publications as needed.
- Develops and coordinates seminars to advise management about various human resource topics and trends. Prepares and assembles appropriate training material or packets as needed.
- Accompanies the Director of Member Relations on prospective and new member calls. Manages client relationships to ensure member satisfaction and retention.
- Participates on ad-hoc teams, such as facilitating roundtable discussions. Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Equipment:
- Personal computer, copier, facsimile machine, and telephone/voicemail system.
- Car required with a valid driver’s license.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Knowledge:
- Must have a broad knowledge of human resource management, employee relations, labor law, research methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of economics and statistics helpful.
- Must have strong communication skills (oral and written) and be able to work with management at a variety of levels.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, customer relations management, and video platforms such as Zoom.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or related field.
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in human resource management; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary, skills, abilities, and knowledge to carry out the duties of this position.
Certifications:
- HRCI or SHRM certification preferred, or able to obtain within one year of employment.
