‘Ohana receive weekly home visits where they have the opportunity to grow in positive parenting practices, learn about their child’s development, and build a loving relationship between parent and child. Our Parent Educators provide the Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) programs as a part of the Your ‘Ohana Network of the state of Hawai’i.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
· Provide mentoring and supervision to office and program staff to provide the services, information, support, and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.
· Possess the ability to understand and perform within the organizational structure of culture-based education (CBE) and family engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Uphold and maintain PAT and HIPPY model fidelity.
· Support, coordinate and mentor Keiki O Ka Aina (KOKA) office and program staff.
· Provide reflective, administrative, and clinical supervision to direct staff.
· Identify relationships, referrals and resources within the community served in each area.
· Recruit families with children prenatal to age five for services in our Hawaii Home Visiting Program with the Department of Health.
· Conduct regular operations meetings with Early Childhood Programs, as required and submit reports regarding enrollment, outcomes and challenges.
· Approve and supervise Admin Assistant’s work in submitting requisitions, group meeting requests, schedules, staff development planning, check requests, operations meetings, travel arrangements, facilitator scheduling and reimbursements as they are assigned.
· Conductor schedule regular ops meetings and supervision with office and program staff.
· Model appropriate behaviors for staff, volunteers, community, parents and children.
· Assure that office and program staff has all necessary supplies, equipment and utility services.
· Oversee spending and purchasing of needed supplies and equipment.
· Check and approve weekly ADP time cards for accuracy and facilitate scheduling.
· Maintain contact with staff for calendar and meetings and to ensure tracking, inputting and reporting is regularly completed as required by KOKA and the required monthly State reporting.
· Assure the maintenance of files in our online data management system in a community accessible office.
· Assist in organizing group meetings including responsibilities in childcare, location prep, program, and coordination.
OTHER DUTIES / FUNCTIONS
· Follow KOKA procedures and policies presented in KOKA Employee Handbook.
· Maintain confidentiality of participant information and agency matters.
· Manage time wisely on a day-to-day basis and arrive timely for staff meetings..
· Maintain accurate and current island information and files.
· Alert KOKA Management to any problems with staff or participants, including suspected child abuse/neglect, injury, safety issues and incidents.
· Attend staff development as may be requested by KOKA and supports training staff, program and volunteers as needed.
· Inform Director if unable to report to work and when PTO time needs to be taken in advance.
· Participate and support KOKA fundraising efforts and other related events as requested.
· Adhere to KOKA Cultural Standards, NAEYC/KOKA Code of Ethics and guiding principles for early childhood professionals.
· Communicate respectfully and effectively with management, program staff, and participants at all times.
· Assist with other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Skills / Knowledge
· Function as a “Mandated Reporter” in areas of suspected child abuse.
· Strong background and knowledge of Hawaiian culture, values and traditions.
· Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
· Advanced knowledge of computer skills, calendar, Internet, curriculum and data entry/tracking.
· Strong writing skills and demonstrated reporting and data tracking capabilities.
· Demonstrated sensitivity and compassion to the needs of parents and children.
· Demonstrated capacity to train staff on implementing HV screening tools, family planning and required evaluation documents.
· Willing and available to occasionally work on some Saturdays, Sundays or evenings.
· Maintain a clean driving abstract.
Education / Training
· Master’s Degree and two (2) years’ experience in social work, clinical psychology, nursing, or counseling OR Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years’ experience in social work, clinical psychology, nursing, or counseling.
· Bachelor of Education degree or related field preferred.
