Job Title:  Loader     

Department:  Warehouse Night

Reports To:  Warehouse Night Manager and/or Warehouse Lead

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Summary:  The Warehouse Night Loader is responsible for ensuring all stops are loaded in sequence and by temperature into the delivery trucks. This includes reviewing computer generate reports to ensure all items are scanned by the pickers. This position reports directly to the Warehouse Night Manager and/ or Warehouse Night Lead.

E = Essential Functions       



Ensure all pallets are shrink wrapped and protected as they load the truck in the proper sequence.


Ensure accuracy of products (correct description and amount).


Load or unload trucks using proper equipment (pallet jack, dollies, and hand trucks) and lifting techniques.


Install protective devices, such as bracing (load bars), strapping (pallet wrap), to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.


Stack products on pallet and/or remove products with dollies or hand trucks.


Identify errors, to include but not limited to:  reviewing expiration dates, damaged products, incorrect weight of products, mis-pick of products and shorts identified by loaders.


Ensure each pallet is tagged with the proper vendors’ name.


Filling out the appropriate documentation after each route, to include but not limited to:  short, extra, and outgoing inspection log.


Move trucks after each route is loaded.


Ensure that all operations while on the dock are completed safely and within USDA guidelines.


Clean and sweep work area after loading each truck, and keep overall warehouse clean and free of debris.


Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills – Mathematical Skills – Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Other Skills and Abilities – Forklift experience preferred, but not required.  Able to direct the activities of loading team.  Ability to work overtime as required to complete tasks.
