Assistant Director of Counseling and Testing (22-06)
Francis Marion University invites applications for an Assistant Director of Counseling and Testing who, under limited supervision, will provide counseling and guidance to university students.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides psychological counseling services to University students on an individual and group basis.
- Provides screening, assessment, and direction in the formulation of intervention strategies, particularly for students with alcohol and drug issues.
- Develops, provides, administers and supervises outreach programming focused on developmental needs. Includes social media management.
- Provides training and supervision to pre-professional students in the clinical/counseling track of the Masters of Science program in psychology.
- Assists the director with coordinating accommodations for students with disabilities (e.g., reviewing documentation, meeting with students and their parents to develop a plan, communicating with faculty and staff to ensure the provision of accommodations).
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Psychology or Counseling
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge in psychological theory, practice, education, and assessment techniques
- Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina or licensure process has been initiated.
- Knowledge of psychological and educational outreach needs of college students
FM Preferences:
- Experience providing counseling and assessments to university students
- Experience working with first-generation college students
- Experience with technology applications and social media as it relates to counseling services
- Ability to work closely/build internal and external teams
- Experience and commitment working with culturally diverse population (e.g. international students, ethnic minority students and/or persons with disabilities.) is highly desired.
- Knowledge of alcohol and other drug counseling techniques, intervention strategies and educational techniques, highly desired.
